Geoff Moorhouse
Heavy Goods Metal Trucks kits first appeared in 1979 produced by Geoff Moorhouse.

Geoff's background was in Engineering and before starting up on his own he had worked in the die cast industry as a product designer, firstly for Meccano on their Dinky range and then with Mettoy in Northampton designing Corgi toys

HG.1 Seddon Atkinson 400 series
The first steps towards producing his own models had been in the mid seventies using resin and had made several cars in cooperation with a German collector.

The first truck model was a Seddon Atkinson 400 produced only as a built up in the Livery of G. B. Crook.  This was quite fragile so eventually a way was found to cast the parts in metal.  In an effort to keep assembly simple the cabs were cast in one piece, something unusual then for metal kits, and a hallmark of Heavy Goods which continues today.

HG.7 Scania-Vabis
Although the Seddon Atkinson was a big success in Britain, as models of British trucks were rare at this time, the biggest demand for truck models came from Europe and led to the production of what is probably the most popular Heavy Goods kit, the Scania Vabis LB76 which is still available today.

From the early days when much of the business was subcontracted, most of the work is now carried out 'in-house'.  This has allowed a control of quality which has contributed to the survival of this range. Geoff is dedicated to producing the sort of detailed replica that cannot be achieved in a ready made model.

The expertise and reputation for quality has brought work in from other manufacturers and this is now a significant part of the business. Geoff produces anything from an individual part to a complete kits for other ranges.
